I noticed it's been weeks since I just sat still, no phone, nothing to do. I don't know if that's a lack of time or fear of what would show up in the silence.
Some days a comment about Islam gets to me more than it should. I know I shouldn't give it that much weight. Even so, at night, it's still there.
I notice this more and more: it's not really that time is short. It's that we spend our attention badly, and then we call it a lack of time.
Nobody posts a video of waking up at six to pray when the body is begging for five more minutes. But it's probably the most real effort of the entire day.
I've noticed it's easier to pray calmly than to be patient with the people I live with. The test was never the prayer. It was everything that happened before it.
Gratitude is recognizing the good in the midst of what still hurts, without pretending that everything is fine.
Set your habits based on your goals
Patience is the balance between waiting in silence and continuing to act with confidence.
