One idea. Three lenses.

Córdoba

History

What made this city extraordinary?

In the 10th century, Córdoba had streets lit at night and libraries holding hundreds of thousands of books. One of the highest peaks of human history.

Knowledge

Why doesn't having information guarantee progress?

And yet it fell. Not for lack of knowledge. From too much of it, without a foundation to hold it up.

Today

What can we learn from Córdoba?

We now carry more knowledge in our pocket than Córdoba ever held in its libraries. The question it left behind is still unanswered.

Some things here you can just read. Others you can study, save, and come back to later.

From my notebook

Sometimes I think about this before falling asleep: that every night my soul leaves, and every morning I wake up is because someone decided to give it back. That alone should be enough to change the next day. It isn't always enough.

I noticed it's been weeks since I just sat still, no phone, nothing to do. I don't know if that's a lack of time or fear of what would show up in the silence.

Some days a comment about Islam gets to me more than it should. I know I shouldn't give it that much weight. Even so, at night, it's still there.

More than 450 thousand people follow these ideas, in Portuguese, English and Arabic.
