What procrastination is trying to tell you

You've put off the same task for three days. You know it needs doing. You have the time. And yet, you open your phone again.

The easy explanation is laziness. But laziness rarely survives a real deadline. When the deadline gets close, most of us find energy out of nowhere.

What usually holds you back is something else: fear of doing it badly, fear of starting without knowing how to finish, or simple fatigue from too many decisions already made that day.

Treating procrastination as laziness leads to the wrong fixes: more discipline, more pressure, more guilt. Treating it as fear changes the question, from "how do I force myself to do this" to "what exactly am I avoiding".

Next time you put off something simple, try asking that question first. The answer usually surprises you.
