What a tourist destination and a luxury brand have in common
A five-star hotel and a luxury clothing brand technically sell very different things. But they compete for the same thing: the feeling of being inside a story bigger than the product itself.
No one pays luxury-room prices just for the mattress. They pay for the whole narrative: the check-in, the smell of the lobby, how the staff treats your name, the silence before you fall asleep.
The same applies to a tourism destination. A country doesn't sell beaches or monuments. It sells the promise of a version of you that only exists there, freer, more curious, more present.
Brands and destinations that forget this treat the experience as a list of amenities. The ones that remember treat it as a story, with a beginning, tension, and an end.
Anyone who understands storytelling understands both worlds with the same ease. The technique is the same. Only the setting changes.
